There is nothing free in life..
This weekend I did a poor job keep a diary. Except for the part where I visited the White house and saw President Bush. Aside from that I thought I had a bad food weekend but weighted in 10 pounds off my high. This seems to be working, but can I make it a lifestyle?
Yesterday — nuts, onion soup (ton of cheese – no bread), ceasar salad no coutons, dinner sauted chicken breasts with onion, garlic, rosemary, tyme, and tumeric, with cauliflower (sauteed-steams with chicken broth). Raw carrots as snack.
Saturday — nuts, sauteed calamari with hot peppers, chicken (buffalo wings, 1/2 strip steak, small portion of braised king crab legs, broccoli rabe, sautedd mushrooms, cream of spinach.
Friday — memory is slipping. dinner a HUGE salad with steamed asparagus, tons of sauteed baby bella mushrooms, swiss cheese, boiled baby yellow beats. lunch I had sashimi over a bead of lettuce with spicy seaffod soup. I can’t remember if I had breakfast. I ran out of eggs, so its possible I skipped.
As I mentioned I was in DC this weekend. I will post the restuarnts later.

Dumb it down
It is amazing that is you don’t have a plan how easy it is to fall of the wagon. Yesterday at lunch time, I began to wander and see where I wanted to eat. The list is endless as; in Manhattan , I can get within one block of my office anything under the sun. I caught myself dead in my steps as if I was a robot and walked to get my daily salad for the week. I was always against following a planned menu. I might need to reconsider. Pounds fell off this week. I am 8 pounds off my high and feel I will reach my target goal in the spring. Yesterdays menu;
2 poached eggs
Large daily salad
carrot sticks and celery
1/4 cup of assorted nuts
pan seared octopus with broccoli rabe
HUGE veal chop with vinegar hot peppers at Baldoria.

For lunch I had a big salad similar to yesterday. For dinner I ate leftover Chinese; poached chicken with ginger. Sauteed Bok Choy.

“the swiftest hours, as they flew,” – Shakespeare
Ten years later. My focus with regards to diet is balance. It feels to me that the word diet has a negative meaning as if it always means in terms of restriction of the quantity of food but that is not always true. It can also define the way one eats. My balance at this moment is not as clearly define as I would like, but I basically split may calories equally between fat, carbohydrates, and protein. I focus on the macros of my food and it has been very educational where all my calories are derived. It is funny how when I mentioned I had an egg white omelette on a call the other day with spinach and mozzarella the listener quickly thought it was odd to remove fat and then add it back in. ” Doesn’t that go against the purpose to having an egg white omelette.” The conversation didn’t continue because there were other on the call. What I learned while focused on macros, I took control of my calories. Three eggs with cheese has 15 grams more fat than egg whites with cheese. That is 100 more calories.
